HOW LIFEWAY AND ENTHUSIASTIC RECOVERY WORKS

Lifeway's goal is to help the abuser learn to stay sober and like it.  We believe treatment organizations should make sobriety attractive to young people.  We feel they must have an internal desire to be sober, not because they need to escape the pain of chemical dependency, but because they see sobriety as meaningful, positive, exciting and an attractive life style.  The support system works because young people are attracted to the fun and excitement of the activities while being surrounded by the loving acceptance of young people just like themselves; all under the banner of sobriety being a positive, desirable lifestyle.

Enthusiastic recovery is implemented through the use of energetic, talented, young recovering staff people, a positive, loving, "cool" atmosphere, and a daily offering of drug free activities.  Virtually all staff members are young people who have become sober in such a support system.  They have been there themselves, and are highly motivated to help others because of their gratitude for a new life. Young people readily identify with these leaders, and trust, a basic requirement for successful treatment, is quickly developed.
